Investigators are searching for a mother who has been missing since mid-November.

Those who know Peggy McGuire have said all along she would never just leave her family, especially her young son.

Now, in McIntosh County, investigators are working to bring answers and closures.

Tuesday, the Stidham Baptist Church parking lot turned into an OSBI command post. Law enforcement from multiple agencies was in the small town to search for a mother who hasn't been seen in three weeks.

Agents said they fear the worst.

Drones, search dogs and a fleet of law enforcement vehicles are not the normal scenes in the small town of Stidham, but a missing person flyer explains why they're there - searching for Peggy McGuire.

“Nobody knows anything. She's just vanished into thin air,” said Pop’s Country Store manager Teresa Vreugdenhil.

Peggy hasn't been seen since she dropped her young son off at school November 16th.

Vreugdenhil said everybody in town knows the curly-headed blonde; she's a nurse, a country girl and her most important job, a mother.

“She baled hay, she did it all…ran the ranch, then went to nursing school and cared for her son. She was just a really hard worker. Everybody around here thought the world of her,” she said.

OSBI assistant Special Agent Jenny Virden said security video shows a man parked Peggy's truck at a bar in Eufaula then walked away.

Virden said investigators are trying figure out who that man is.

“We're searching every piece of property that we can,” she said.

Detectives searched the mobile home where Peggy lived with her son's father and they searched the vast countryside that makes up much of Stidham, and they did it with only one goal in mind.

“We hope that we find Peggy McGuire,” she said.

OSBI said it’s still gathering evidence and said no suspects have been named.
